This is a replacement for /me. Instead of saying, for instance:

/me slaps you with a wet noodle.

You would say:

*slaps you with a wet noodle.*

You can also do various noises and whatnot with stars as delimiters:

I like cheese, Brain! Narf!

*whack*

Pinky, why did you strike me with a head cheese?
