Basically, a card with a conventional magstripe and a CPU. Able to store data and do standard processing. Has interesting possiblities for security and finance.

Well a smart card can be a credit card or what is sold by companies like Schlumberger which follow the ISO-7816 standard. Today when people talk about smart cards they are generally talking about ISO-7816-4 type smart cards.
