This is a club for people who feel they are overweight, usually it is women who go. You join for a fee (usually around 10 pounds) and pay a small amount every week to get weighed. The class leader issues you with a diet booklet (which lists all the things you can eat along with recipes and tips) and gives you your ideal weight.
Every week the class leader will give you tips on how to lose weight and finally weighs you at the end. This is the best part to see how much weight you have lost (or gained in some cases!).
When you finally reach your target weight a bell rings and the whole class cheers. You can then give the class leader "before" and "after" pictures which are passed round at meetings to give others encouragement.
