In tournaments in some sports, such as rowing, competitors/teams that lose in early rounds can compete against other losing teams in a sort of losers' bracket called the repechage, from which one or more winners will be admitted to the finals to compete for prizes. The one-loss bracket in a double elimination tournament is similar.
