surrealism of a listless night
from the time i woke to the instant
my eyes closed and i knew then 
they would never again see you
or blink at the first sign of 
a  s t i l l  morning

the moment i glanced towards the floor
and you raged with silent intensity
as my shoulders trembled in what was
soon to be an admittance of defeat

a subtle, penetrating fear fills me now

throw your look of disgust in the corner
atop the others i've been given, as 
i don't want to forget the way you've made me feel
until i've prepared my swift, violent withdrawal
from life lost to an intense fallacy

far beyond words that slip through a
broken sunset weeping stars that fall
landing quietly in moonlit pools
finding their home amidst cliched broken hearts 
and how we could have loved
