Apparently, there was this advertisement carrying the slogan: "How British Rail will cope". Written underneath: "Next week: how to nail jelly to the ceiling."

This was long ago.

British politics, including Labour, is now dominated by car owners, and BR has been privatised out of existence. It is still possible to travel by train in Britain.
