  • a subset of the ruling class that rules by exploiting the Cult of the "Hip" or the Cult of the New. MTV, for instance, or bands that depend on them. The advertising industry has many people who are members of the hipocracy - they are "in the demo", and are (usually wrongly) believed to have a sixth sense in being able to reach people in their own coveted demographic.
