At snowboarding/skiing slopes, the green circle is used to designate the 'easiest' runs. Usually, this just means these runs aren't very steep, although this varies based on where you are. These runs may range from gradual slopes to totally flat areas. Although you won't go very fast on these slopes, they aren't necessarily easy for a new snowboarder. Some are almost flat, which makes it impossible to board - unlike skiiers, snowboarders have no poles and must take off their board to walk on flat ground. Also, like riding a bike, snowboarding is something hard to do when you aren't moving very fast. Other green runs are narrow traverses. Newbie snowboarders usually need a lot of room to carve or do the falling leaf, and are marked on one side by a drop-off. These traverses may be harder for them than a blue square slope.
