A group of anti-segregationists in the 1960s who rode buses around the Southern United States, for the purpose of registering black Americans to vote.

This was often a dangerous task, as many local good ol' boys did not take kindly to having a bunch of yankees coming into their towns and stirring up the Colored folk.
