The decay rate in a Concept Network node is here to prevent a quick saturation of the Concept Network. Furthermore, one activated node would not be such a relevant one later.

Deactivation, by reducing nodes' activation value, ensures that activated nodes are relevant. It represents a kind of loss of interest for a node. It permits to focus the system on other concepts.

For a node to be activated, it is required that it receive regularly activation.
