A cryptocommunist is a person who hides their
identity as a
communist or keeps it secret, for whatever reason.
Reasons to be a cryptocommunist include hiding from
persecution, avoiding the social
stigma that occasionally comes with being a communist, or that your
communistic plans will only work if no one suspects what you are trying to do.
The word
crypto means secret or hidden;
Cryptography is the study, and practice, of hiding secrets.
