I recently had the displeasure of penning an overly long and boring essay on the subject of the implications of a US-centric WWW. I ended up spending a lot of time searching the web for relevant statistics and after many hours compiled the list I will share with you know. I hope it will save someone some time sometime : )

• http://www.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs.cmu.edu/user/bam/www/numbers.html - The BEST computer statistics grab bag on the web. Contains a huge list of fully atributed quotes collected from newsmedia over the past 10 years or so. Great for tossing into a paper to flesh it out, or peppering a speach with.
• http://www.dotcom.com/facts/index.html - Gives statistics for US & International use of the web. Good reference. Offers breakdowns by state and by country.
• http://www.glreach.com/globstats/index.php3 - Lists internet usage by language group/country. Excellent information.
• http://www.isc.org/ds/WWW-200007/dist-byname.html - Lists number of hosts per top level domain name.
• http://www.vissing.dk/Internet.History/ihistlist.html - Links page to many different "history of the internet" writeups, grouped by type.
