Goldenrod, captured in flower (and not a second before or after) and dock and/or cattails.

In time (several weeks) the goldenrod will turn white (about Halloween, while the dock and/or cattails will turn darker, almost black.

Thus, in the Northeast United States, one has a perfect bouquet until a)your forced bulbs make their appearance, b)Spring, or c) May, at which you may discard them, having become too dusty to keep. Earth-friendly, since all three are CO2-hogs, who keep out more fragile species from reproducing.Have fun!
