Also called a WAN; a computer network, similar to a Local Area Network or LAN, but spanning a greater distance, usually more than one kilometer. Also, two LANs connected to each other can be considered a Wide Area Network.

Methods of connecting WANs include telephone lines, microwave transceivers, radio waves, and satellite dishes.
