Two people, although the Biography of the Millennium authors apparently think they're a single unit. James Watson and Francis Crick first proposed that the DNA molecule had a double helix shape. The two shared the Nobel Prize in medicine and physiology with Maurice Wilkins who had done (with crystallographer Rosalind Franklin) X-ray studies testing the Watson and Crick model.
