Formed in 1977 as the Bradford and Bingley Staffs' Association; in 2001 it changed its name to "UBAC" which appears to be an artifical acronymn that stands for nothing in particular. UBAC has some 2,800 members all employed by the Bradford and Bingley Group, (the old Bradford and Bingley Building Society) and its subsidiary Alltel Mortgage Solutions.
It is affiliated to both the Trades Union Congress and the Alliance for Finance but not to any political party.
