Orlando “Tubby” Smith is the
head coach of the
University of Kentucky's
Men's Basketball team. Tubby was born June 30,
1951 in
Scotland,
Maryland to a family where he had 16 siblings, and he attended
Great Mills high school. After playing basketball at
High Point college, he began working as an
assistant coach and rose in the ranks to his current position.
Tubby is frequently offered
NBA and other college head coach positions, but thus far has turned given no indication that he is leaving
UK. He now has a wife Donna and three sons, G.G., Saul and Brian.
Saul Smith is a UK
graduate and currently plays basketball in the
NBDL.
