Academics of language always play the catch-up game: there's no such thing as a language. You can take snapshots of the current state of a language, but they are always evolving.

The joke about streamlining a language and reduce it to nonsense it's already happening in Europe due to the popularity of SMS through cell phones. Their little keyboards suck at writing so the youngsters use fewer and fewer words.

There's nothing to worry about, it doesn't matter, it's going to be wonderful because it's going to work. Tight rules kill languages.
