The flowers bloomed,
The grass was green,
The sun was warm,
The air was clean.
A truck roared through the untouched grass,
Clouded the sun and the air with gas.
The beautiful flowers all were faded,
And the wild animals were gated.
As the men put up the fence
The animals cried "we are not free!" and sighed.
More trucks rolled on in,
Darkened the air with smoke and gin.
The animals ran in their own defense,
At last they were stopped by the fence.
The birds went over,
The bugs went under along with the other small things.
But the rest were stuck,
As a man had snuck,
Upon the deer he pulled out a gun
And shot them all one by one.
He rolled them back to their camp
And gleamed with pride and joy.
What a feast they had that night,
A gun was their special toy.
But many miles away,
Where the animals still roamed,
The flowers bloomed,
The grass was green,
The sun was warm,
and the air was clean.
