CNN's
flagship news broadcast, it is
anchored by
Wolf Blitzer,
Joie Chen, and
Jim Moret. The anchors are ususally in
Washington,
Atlanta, and
Los Angeles respectively to give the
show a
presence in all of CNN's reporting
hubs. It was created in
1998 when the network revamped its
prime time linup and
shuffled much of the Washington
reporting staff. The show is normally an hour long and closes with a
fluff piece by fluff-master
Jeannie Moos.
Yet another reason that CNN is more addictive than crack.
The show was killed in very early 2001 as CNN moved to a prime time full of 30 minute talk shows and Larry King Live. They made the switch from more polished, produced work to talk because of ratings pressure from more tabloid-style MSNBC and Fox News Channel.
