Tom Snyder's first talk show, origin of some of Dan Aykroyd's SNL skits. On a small, darkened set, TS, dangling his cigarette, would interview his guest, often ones you wouldn't see on "regular" television: John Lennon, Morgana (baseball's "kissing bandit"), Harlan Ellison. Later on, NBC added a live audience and "controversial" guests (The Plasmatics; Johnny Rotten); then they added gossip/facelift queen Rona Barrett as co-host. Cancelled. Replacement: David Letterman, future TS boss.
