The thing that should not let it be is an intensely funny (for the first few times anyway) song by Beatallica that fuses The Beatles' fatalistic ballad Let it be with Metallica's lovecraftian heavy metal The thing that should not be. I find it the funniest of all their seven ... things. This kind of humour demands a broad knowledge of 20th century culture.

Since the music is free MP3s of dubious copyright status, distributed under an alias in order to avoid the terrible combined wrath of Lars Ulrich and Paul McCartney, I don't think they'd mind the lyrics being posted here (CST Approved).

This is transcribed from listening to the MP3 repeatedly (gibber!) but it's pretty clearly sung so it should be accurate. The tune, except for the guitar solos, is pretty much that of Let it be, if you can imagine a metal band playing it. The vocal delivery is a decent faux-James Hetfield voice.

The thing that should not let it be

(Metallica intro guitar solo)
When I find myself in times of trouble
Hybrid children come to me
Pray for father roaming, roaming free
And in my hour of darkness
It is standing right in front of me
Here's the thing that should not let it be

Do not let it be, let it be
Hybrid children watch the sea yeah!
Here's the thing that should not let it be

When crawling chaos underground
People living in the world are free
The wretch is fearless with insanity
And though he had been sleeping
There is still a chance that he will see
That this thing just should not let it be

Let it be, let it be
Hybrid children watch the sea yeah!
Here's the thing that should not let it be, Come on

let it be, let it be
Hybrid children watch the sea
Here's the thing that should not let it be

Kirk Hammett!
Guitar solo
Cliff Burton! The major razor on the four-string motherfucker

Oh let it be, let it be
Hybrid children watch the sea yeah!
Here's the thing that should not let it be, Come on

"Not dead which eternal lie,
stranger eons death may die"
These are words of wisdom, let it be
I wake up to the sound of Metallica
Let the metal come to me
Death to the one that will not let it be

let it be, let it be
Hybrid children watch the sea yeah!
Here's the thing that should not let it be

let it be, let it be ooh!
Hybrid children watch the sea
Here's the thing that should not let it be
