In our photo album of our Great Britain vacation, there's a picture of a sidewalk sign with this special written on it in chalk. Turns out this is a takeaway shop and a "faggot" (in this case) is some sort of bundled up, fried meat thing (it is also slang for a cigarette.) Brits have a completely different meaning for that word than us Americans. My initial shock on the street did mellow out with a healthy dose of cultural relativism, but not enough to stop me from taking a picture.
