King of Norway 1184-1202. Born appr. 1151, died March 9th 1202 in Bergen.

King Sverre is best known for leading "Birkebeinerne", defeating the Bishop alliance "Baglerne" in a civil war. His saga (Sverres saga) was written by his own scribe. Sverre was excommunicated by the Pope in 1194.
