The above doses are calculated from literature as a fatal overdose for a male weighing 150 pounds. When overdose is accompanied by alcohol, reduce the total number of milligrams needed by 50%. Regular use of a medication will increase the amount of milligrams needed for success by 33%.

I've talked to a few people who have tried to overdose on Valium (diazepam). Let me save anyone the trouble. A person would need to take 3290 milligrams of Valium to successfully overdose. That doesn't sound like much but that's 658 of those 5 mg pills.

It's interesting to see how much of what to take and certainly it's a topic for those 2am morbid conversations but I'm not ready to die just yet and if I have to live then you should suffer too.

The computer in the doctor's office I was working at two years ago had a program that cross referenced several sources, plugged the information into an equation with patient information and spit out dosage information and a warning about fatal overdose. I wrote a whole bunch of then down but that notebook was all in pencil and it was very smudged. I only put down the ones I could read for certain. I can't remember the name of the program but it was wonderful.
