Excellent Koelsch brewed since 1833 in Kalk, a rather rough quarter on Cologne's right (as in left) side of the rhine. The brewery features a great beergarden, readily embraced by the locals and is one of the few rays of light in this rather dreary, postindustrial area. The beer itsself is mild, sweet and rather addictive. Sold unfortunately only in a very select groub of bars and pubs, it has the usual 4.8% alcohol and is unfortunately not as poular as it should be.

Best enjoyed at the great pub Koelnisch Wasser in Klettenberg, a great little quarter in Cologne.
