Swedish actor. Known in Europe as a fine actor, he made his mark as the dying husband Jan in the film Breaking the Waves. With the critical acclaim for him (and his, co-star, Emily Watson), he gained roles in the American Hollywood mainstream, with big roles in Good Will Hunting and Ronin. His latest film to be released in America is 1998's My Son, The Fanatic.
