A .22 long rifle accuracy competition sponsored by the League of Kentucky Sportsmen as a way of rewarding and encouraging youth involvement in the shooting sports. The competition consists of firing five offhand shots from a .22 long rifle equipped with open iron sites at an official paper target. The target is placed a distance of 25 yards from the shooting line. Competition categories are defined by sex and age, with the contest being open to all Kentucky residents under the age of 21- persons from out-of-state may be eligible for local contests sponsored by area sporting clubs. The state winners are awarded their highly impressive tropies at the annual League Convention Banquet and usually recieve a trophy of some sort from their sponsoring sporting club.
