This is a joint that can only move slightly. An example is, in humans, the spinal cord is a semimovable joint. This is because, we can move it, (we can bend over and to the sides, etc.) but it holds the bones of the vertebral column in place. These joints are important because if we didn't have them, we either would be paralyzed, or we wouldn't be able to move our back anyway.
