Selling the Holocaust - from Auschwitz to Schindler - How History is Bought, Packaged, and Sold by Tim Cole.

The author examines three Holocaust personalities - Anne Frank, Adolf Eichmann, and Oskar Schindler, and three of the most popular Holocaust sites, Auschwitz, Yad Vashem, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Despite the Nuremberg trials, the Holocaust, including its survivors and its venues, was not a popular subject until the late 1950s and early 1960s. Rather, both in the U.S. and in Israel, it was a subject which was often ignored in "polite" society. The reasons for this silence were different for the U.S. and for Israel and Cole presents startling insights for both.
