A defensive war tactic that involves destroying anything that can be of possible use to the enemy prior to falling back. This includes destruction of infrastructure, food, transportation, fuel, weapons, ammunition, and shelter.

For obvious reasons, this is usually a last resort if forced to fall back and give territory to the enemy.

Used several times by the Russians during the various times they have been invaded.
