Up here
the Inuit sometimes resort to cannibalism
as a method
of survival

People fear the cold,
but it's a dry
lack of
heat.
Ice falls off into the North Pacific.

I held up a photo of Santa
and set it afire with a match.

As the 8x10 crumples into ash
Santa's face still does not burn
and an Inuit tells me he's seen
that man
staggering North
drunk
covered in red,
a nose and cheeks to match,
ready to club another seal to death
with his bare hands.
