San Francisco dominated the music scene from 1965-1975. Throughout this turbulent period of American history people flocked to San Francisco and it became a haven for artists and activists of all types. Riding on the tail end of the British Invasion The San Fransisco music scene probably did more to shape modern American rock and roll than any other event in music history. Through the talent of people like Jerry Garcia, Carlos Santana, John Cippolina, Janis Joplin and the work of promoters like Bill Graham the influence of San Fransisco rock spread across the nation and became synonymous with the freedom movement of the era.
