A DNS record type as per RFC 1035.

SOA in this context is short for start of authority. This DNS record specifies which name server is authoritative for the zone in question. Also specified is an email address of a sysadmin to contact should something go wrong with the domain. Lastly, the serial, refresh, retry, expire, and TTL values are specified on the zone.
