"The battle for the mind of North America will be fought in the video ring."

Some species of Marshall McLuhan-esque media visionary as depicted in the David Cronenberg movie Videodrome.

Prof. O'Blivion (not his real name) believes that in the future, we will all have assumed names and identities with which to maintain media presences even from beyond the grave.

He runs the Cathode Ray Mission and believes that brain tumours caused by video-screen exposure are new organs of enlightenment, from the hallucinations they provide.

"The television screen is the retina of the mind's eye, therefore the televison screen is part of the physical structure of the brain, therefore whatever appears on the television screen, emerges as raw experience for those who watch it, therefore television is reality, and reality is less than television."
