| Arguably the most excessive tour ever (although the ZooTV tour certainly comes close). It began on April 25, 1997 in Las Vegas and finished in Johannesburg, South Africa on March 21, 1998. For $52 a ticket you got to see U2 play live (subjectively, an incredible experience) among the largest LED screen ever made (something like 150ft wide by 75ft tall), a gigantic McDonalds arch that framed and divided the LED screen, a 100ft tall toothpick with a speared olive on it, and a 40ft tall, mirrored disco-ball lemon that the band re-entered the stage in after the intermission. Supposedly PopMart is the last of U2's huge stadium tours. |
