Original name of The Pogues. "Pogue Mahone" is an English transliteration of the Irish phrase "Póg mo thóin", which means "kiss my ass", so the band were forced to change it to the more anodyne "The Pogues", which sort of means "The kisses". Most people will agree that the original name is more apt.
