One of the funniest/most profound ideas from Philip K. Dick's novel, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" The Mood Organ is a home appliance used for regulating emotional states. It is featured prominently in the first chapter of the book. It is used by "dialing" numbers which correspond to specific emotional states such as:

"well-disposed toward the world"

"businesslike, professional attitude"

"self-accusatory depression"

"awareness of the manifold possibilities open to me in the future"

"The desire to watch TV, no matter what is on it"

"ecstatic sexual bliss"

"pleased acknowledgement of husband's superior wisdom in all matters" (usually dialed into a wife's mood organ without her suspecting)

"creative and fresh attitude toward one's job"
