In democratic elections, an ordinal ballot is a ballot structure wherein one marks their preference with an ordered hierarchical listing for all parties or individuals present.

Example of a vote on an ordinal ballot:

Who best represents a toothy Luddite?

4 Pseudo_Intellectual
3 Truffle
1 yam
2 L'Homme Tomate
See borda count.
Contrast with nominal ballot, approval voting.
