The history of women's ice hockey in the Olympic Winter Games is a short one. There wasn't a women's competition for ice hockey until the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Japan.

Of course, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Sport seems to be one of the places where women are most definitely not treated the same as men. In fact, for the speed skating competition, there still isn't a 10,000m competition. They have 3000m and 5000m, instead of 5000m and 10,000m like the men.

Anyhow, here's the fairly short summary of results:

Total Medals: Gold Silver Bronze

Canada 1 1 0
United States 1 1 0
