A while ago I noticed that my wonderful Logitechtm wireless mouse wasn't working anymore.
I thought, oh, well, it's been a few years, I've used it a lot, it's probably busted by now. So I dithered a bit before finding a new mouse at the Walgreen's -- a cheap wired USB mouse. Complete with rad glowing bits. Very gamer-computer style. That worked for a while.
But then I noticed its connection to my computer software kept dropping off. Maybe it got old, maybe my USB ports got old. So I thought, great, this time I'll replace it with a new wireless mouse. So I walked all the way to the CVS downtown and I got me a new wireless mouse.
And I took it home and I put the battery in and I realized it was kind of stuck. So I took the battery out and I realized I'd put it in backwards. And then I thought, wait a minute, is this just how the battery is configured in all wireless mouses? WAIT A MINUTE. So I took the battery out of that one and put it in the old one -- and the old one worked fine. It was fine this whole time.
It only stopped working because I'd put the battery in backwards.
