The abbreviation commonly used for the Australian state of New South Wales
Port Jackson is found in New South Wales. This is the site of the landing of the "First Fleet" in 1786. This fleet carried boatloads of wealthy folk who wanted to colonize Australia, and a large number of English prisoners who had little choice in the matter.
It is also the state that completely surrounds Australia's capital, Canberra: The Australian Capital Territory, or ACT.
