Mr. Wetherby is the idealized past principal of Brookfield School, who is mentioned but never shown in James Hilton's celebrated novel Goodbye, Mr. Chips.

More famous is his namesake, Mr. Weatherbee, the bald, flabby, and pompous principal of Riverdale High in Archie Comics.
