A small bay in Northern California, it is shaped roughly like a crescent, with Santa Cruz at the northern tip, and Monterey towards the south. It is home to an number of different species, and the unique environment of its Kelp Forest. It has recently recieved the title of Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary MBNMS, which affords extra protection for its one-of-a-kind ecosystem.
