Dutch bicycle racer, born in The Hague in 1972. Classmate of Richard Krajicek for a few years.
His first major achievement was a win in Aix-les-Bains in the 1996 Tour de France. He reaches the finish line in Paris eventually at the 31st spot. The years after that, his abilities in the mountains earn him reasonably high rankings in the Tour. In the 1998 EPO Tour he manages to finish fifth.
