A phrase meaning "no attempt whatsoever is made to hide this fact". For example, one might say: "I am an elitist; I make no bones about it." means that "I am openly an elitist, I make no attempt whatsoever to conceal the fact.", as compared with an elitist who tries to conceal the fact that he's an elitist behind rhetoric.
