American lawyer and individualist political radical who wrote lots of essays critiquing the State. He started a private postal system which competed with the United States Postal Service, until a law was passed to ban it. His most famous work was a pamphlet series, No Treason, including No Treason: The Constitution of No Authority, which maintains that the United States Constitution "is of no inherent authority or obligation". See natural rights, social contract.
