In Tolkien's Middle-Earth a Sindarin word for the "Snow-people" of Forochel, who dwealt on the shores of the grat Ice Bay on the edge of the Northern Waste. According to a not in the Red Book they were: "A strange, unfriendly people, remnant of the Forodwaith...The Lossoth house in the snow, and it is said that they can run on the ice with bones on their feet, and have carts without wheels".
