A character in the Metroid series, and one of the original two minibosses, along with Ridley. He's a heavyset space pirate monster of some sort, who shoots spikes at you. In the first game, he's the same height as Samus and you have to get as close as possible to him to get your missiles past his spikes, taking a tremendous amount of damage in the process. In Super Metroid, he's over two screens tall, but is easily dispatched by three super missiles launched into his mouth. Both games also have decoy Kraids that are much easier to beat. I'm not sure if anyone was fooled.
