Kelly Link writes stories that defy classification and bring both a sense of childlike wonder and ambiguity. Her story "Travels with the Snow Queen" won the James Tiptree Jr. Award in 1997. Her story "The Specialist's Hat" won the World Fantasy Award in 1999. "The Girl Detective" and "The White Crocodile" are two more great stories. Kelly once won a free trip around the world. She lives in Brooklyn and co-edits the zine Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet. Small Beer Press recently published her first collection, Stranger Things Happen . Kelly taught at Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Workshop in 2001 where her stories and her teaching were popular and very appreciated.
